Welcome to Keepsake Community

On behalf of all Keepsake Ornament Club (KOC) members, welcome new members to the Community and welcome back returning members! If you’ve just entered Keepsake Community for the first time, we recommend reading through this page, as it will explain how the Community operates and how to use all of the social features to discuss, post and share with fellow Keepsake fans and Keepsake Studio Artists.

What you should know about Keepsake Community:

  • In keeping with the spirit and intent of the KOC, Keepsake Community is a fun, inviting place to connect and share. Remember, a community is about collaborating to create a positive experience for all members.
  • Because you are a highly valued Club member, our goal is to have Keepsake Community members be the first to receive news, content, sneak peeks, artist features, etc. Forgive us if we slip up as our intention is to keep you “in the know” and share as much as we can to keep the conversation going.
  • We ask that you respect the Community and its members by not sharing posts or any other content outside of Keepsake Community. Keepsake Community is a members-only community because it is a special benefit of the KOC. Please help us keep this a community for the Community and contact us if you notice any outside activity. (See Terms of Use & Terms of Sale for more information.)
  • This is a member run community. By starting conversations, answering Community questions and adding your own content, you will make this the best possible community for you! Keepsake Studio Artists and other Villagers are members of the Community but are also building exciting new ornaments, so don’t wait for us to get chatting!

We are excited to have you here!

How do I get started?

How do I get back to the Homepage of the site?

Click on the Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Club logo to get back to the homepage.

What do the following labels over the member photos mean: Fan, Superfan, Artist, and Villager?

There are 4 types of members in the Community:

  • Fan – a badge for anyone who loves ornaments and is a member of the Community
  • Superfan – a badge fans earn by being highly active in the community or by showing through their posts that they have a particularly deep knowledge of Keepsake Ornaments
  • Artist – a badge given only to our Keepsake Studio Artists
  • Villager – a badge for fans who work at Hallmark on Keepsake Ornaments but aren‘t artists
  • Seller – a badge coming later this spring when we add the ability for you to set up your own shop and sell ornaments online
What are Topics, Groups & Clubs, and Shares sections of the community?

Topics is an area of discussion that members can participate in. Any member can participate in a topic by adding a post from their own activity feed and then tagging it with an appropriate category. Members can also reply to any comment made in a topic. Think of Topics as a quick way to get to a type of activity, such as “In the News” for news stories. Note, only the Community administrator can set up new topics.

Groups are public or private groups that anyone can set up. You can set one up for a specific interest, such as “Peanuts Ornament Fans,” or for your own local Keepsake Ornament Club to communicate and share information with each other.

Shares is the place to go when you want to broadcast information, photos, ideas or projects for the community to see. Think of this section as your personal expression space. You can set up a Share post to show off how you decorated for Christmas, what you cooked for dinner or the gingerbread houses you made. Tag the post to a relevant Topic in the community and members following that Topic will see your post and join the conversation.

How do I set up a Topic?

Topics can only be set up by a Hallmark Admin for now.

How do I post to a Topic?

There are two ways to post to a Topic in the Community.

  1. While on your own profile page and within activity feed, add to the text box and select a Topic from the drop down menu to associate the post with. The post will appear on the activity feed of that Topic and all members that follow that Topic will see it. You also can add a video or website by adding the link to the text box. Another fun way to share!
  2. Another way to post to a Topic is to create a new Share post. See below for additional instruction about this feature of the community.
How do I set up a Group?

Select the blue “Create Group” button from the Groups & Clubs category page. This will take you to a Group setup screen. From here you can specify if you want a group “public” (open to anyone), “private” (open by invite only, though it is visible to the public).

When you set up your group you can add images, a link to a video, and other links, and as the owner of the group you can invite others to participate.

You publish your group to the community by selecting the blue “Publish” button at the bottom of the set up screen.

Note that you can edit a group you‘ve published by selecting your name in the upper right corner of the site and selecting “My Groups.” This will take you to a listing of all the groups you own and allow you to edit or remove them from the community.

How do I set up a Share post?

Select Shares (near the Thumbtack icon) and you will be taken to a Shares category screen. From here select the “Create Share” button to open an “Add Share” screen. Here you can name your Share, add a summary and description, and tag it with the appropriate topic category or group. Shares are great because you can add images and links and invite others to collaborate with you, meaning they can add new content to that particular Share post as well.

How do I update my Member Profile?

When you are signed in, click on your member picture (Avatar) in the upper right section of the screen. This will take you to your profile. Then click on the blue “Edit” button.

You can write something about yourself in the About Me section. You can also write a short (144 characters) bio about you. When other members search for you, they will often see this short bio first.

From this page you can also upload your own photo or image to represent you and put in your own cover photo (the longer horizontal area at the top of your profile).

How do I upload my profile photo (Avatar)?

Within the Profile edit screen, scroll down until you see the word Avatar. Select the “Upload Photo” button next to it and choose to upload a photo from your desktop. You can upload a Cover Photo in the same manner. A cover photo is a horizontal image that you can use to add personality to your community profile.

How do I edit my photo?

Within the Profile edit screen, once you have a photo uploaded you can move your cursor over your photo and a pencil icon and a trash can icon will appear. Click on the pencil icon to bring up a cropping tool, then drag your cursor over the photo until it is cropped to your liking. Finally, you can delete your current photo by clicking on the trash can icon.

What is “following”?

Following is an action that any member can do. You can follow a member, a group, a topic, or a project. It‘s a quick way to stay up to date on your favorite people and subjects, as once you follow someone or something, you get posts automatically sent to your activity feed. Just click the blue “Follow” button beneath the person or thing you wish to receive updates on.

How do I cancel my account? If you chose to cancel your account:
  • Go into your profile and chose EDIT.
  • Look for the Red CANCEL button in the bottom left corner of the page.
  • Click on CANCEL.
  • A confirmation page will appear to confirm your account has been cancelled.
What happens when I cancel my account?
  • Your profile will be deleted.
  • If you are a member of a group, your profile will be removed from the group.
  • A user can no longer find your account if they search your name.
  • Your activity in Keepsake Community prior to cancelling will remain in the community; this includes photos, comments, shares, etc.
  • You WILL remain a member of the Keepsake Ornament Club (KOC).
